Solo musician – Viola (full-time position)

The Warsaw Philharmonic announces auditions for the position of
SOLO MUSICIAN – VIOLA (FULL-TIME POSITION)

AUDITION DATES:

SEPTEMBER 15, 2025 – STAGE I and SEPTEMBER 16, 2025 – STAGE II

Interested candidates are requested to submit an application and artistic bio to the Warsaw Philharmonic Office – Room 109, by post to the address: ul. Jasna 5, 00-950 Warsaw
or by e-mail to: sekretariat@filharmonia.pl no later than July 16, 2025.

Orchestral experience in the field of solo viola is advisable. The Philharmonic reserves the right to invite selected candidates to the audition. Candidates invited to the audition will receive an individual invitation with detailed information. The Philharmonic will provide an accompanist (piano tuning A = 442 Hz).

AUDITION PROGRAM:
STAGE I
1. K. Stamitz – Viola Concerto in D major, 1st movement – compulsory cadenza by Klengel
2. Selected orchestral and solo excerpts – from the Stage II list (the jury will select on the day of the audition)
STAGE II
1. Mandatory for all: Bach – Sarabande and Gigue from Cello Suite No. 3, BWV 1009
2. One of the following viola concertos (1st movement):
a. Walton – Viola Concerto
b. Hindemith – Der Schwanendreher
c. Bartók – Viola Concerto
3. Orchestral and solo excerpts
