is hiring an
ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Royal Swedish Opera Stockholm is actively searching for a highly talented and musical individual to fill the role of Assistant Conductor for the 2025/2026 season.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
•Professional experience, equivalent to “Kapellmeister” level at major European opera houses, conducting opera and ballet (or equivalent experience)
•Excellent knowledge of opera and ballet repertoire
•Experience with opera and orchestra structures and practices
•Good pianistic skills an advantage
•Good oral and written communication skills in English
•Swedish language skills or willingness to learn Swedish
•Basic level in Italian, French and German; further languages of advantage
•Must demonstrate the ability to successfully manage relationships with the Music Director, guest artists, staff members, musicians and other constituents
•Demonstrate ability to motivate others
•Resilient and loyal personality; handle calmly and efficiently situations, ranging from routine to emergency
•Must be able and willing to work days, evenings and weekends as required
•Presence at the Opera, live in Stockholm
WHAT WE OFFER
•Contract for one season with the possibility of extension for another season

APPLICATION PROCESS:

2. Live audition
The audition will take place by personal invitation in April 1 and 3, 2025
at the Royal Swedish Opera House, Jacobs Torg 4, 105 69 Stockholm.
Closing date for all applications including video is January 15, 2025
