MAHLER I with Colin Metters and the NEW Sinfonia: Dec & Jan 2025

Our season of events opens with an exploration of Gustav Mahler, Symphony No. 1, in an intensive masterclass guided by Colin Metters. The programme includes in-depth exploration of musical and technical challenges with ICA's pianist Hamish Brown and professional musicians from NEW Sinfonia.

Day 1: Full-day score study & discussion
Day 2: One-on-one with Colin Metters (no observers)
Day 3: Conducting practice with feedback and debrief

LIVE in Manchester (Jan 5-10)

Day 4: Silent conducting
Days 5-7: Rehearsals with pianist Hamish Brown
Days 8-9: Conducting the NEW Sinfonia chamber ensemble (15-player Farrington arrangement)
