announce an audition for the
2nd Associate Principal Second Violin (third chair).

The position is offered on a part-time basis starting on 1 January 2025 with a view to full-time employment from 1 August 2026.

Audition date and place: 12 September 2024, Rudolfinum, Prague

Audition repertoire
Pre-selection video recording:
(With the application, you will send a link to your uploaded video recording on YouTube. The recording must be with piano or orchestral accompaniment, if not originally for violin solo & not older than 1 year.)

Any piece of major violin repertoire of your choice that best represents your skills
One of the following concertos (of your choice) exposition and cadenza:
W. A. Mozart: Violin Concerto in A Major KV219, D Major KV218, G Major KV216
1st Round (blind audition, with piano):
1. One of the following concertos (of your choice) with cadenza:
W. A. Mozart: Violin Concerto in A Major KV219, D Major KV218, G Major KV216

2. Orchestral excerpts:

B. Smetana: My Country – Vyšehrad, From Bohemian Fields and Groves
R. Strauss: Don Juan op.20
L. van Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 in d minor op.125 - scherzo
2nd Round (non-blind audition, with piano):
1. One of the major violin concertos (of your choice, 1st movement)

2. Orchestral excerpts:

A. Dvořák: Carnival op.92
B. Smetana: Bartered Bride, overture
F. Mendelssohn: Midsummer Night's Dream op. 61 - scherzo
L. Janáček: Glagolitic Mass
B. Bartók: Concerto for Orchestra
