Principal Viola (Section Leader)

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is seeking to appoint to the position of Section Principal Viola.
We welcome applications from exceptional players, with considerable relevant professional experience.
BSO reserve the right to close the process in the event of finding the best candidate for the position. Early applications are therefore advised.
Based in Poole, Dorset, the BSO perform extensively across the south and south-west of England, nationally and internationally, and deliver an extensive range of education and community work, through its award-winning Participate department.
The Orchestra’s incoming Chief Conductor is Mark Wigglesworth; Leader Amyn Merchant.
Audition repertoire:
• a movement (including cadenza, if appropriate) from a major viola concerto (i.e.: Bartok, Walton or Hindemith) – please note that Stamitz or Hoffmeister are also acceptable, but not Telemann
• a contrasting piece of your choice
• Excerpts will be sent to candidates who are invited to audition
• Sight-reading may be given
