Fine Violin c.1680 Amsterdam & c.1820 London (Betts Shop) - Try in London / Essex

Prezzo: £15,000
A Dutch violin back c.1670-80 - recently described as “of the finest quality”. 357mm LOB. The body and scroll was made FOR this back by Richard Tobin and/or Bernard Simon Fendt II at the Betts shop in London, c.1820-30.

The scroll is by Tobin, who made some of the finest London scrolls. The front and ribs are also possibly by him, but more likely B.S. Fendt who did this, as well as the varnishing.

This violin has been given a highest-quality new fingerboard, pegs, and bridge/post. The tone is GOOD - Warm, deep, and strong when you need it to be. The response across the strings is correctly-balanced, and extremely easy to play on.

The Dutch back is restored with no present issues. The rest is in excellent preservation - Just one crack repair below the treble soundhole

Tobins can reach £30,000, and more-so for Fendts. This violin is priced well-below retail value, and is a good opportunity for anyone wishing to increase value from a cert gained in their own time.
