Júlio Cardona International Music Competition

The first edition of the Júlio Cardona International Music Competition, promoted and organized by the Municipality of Covilhã, will take place from June 25th to 28th, 2025.
The competition is dedicated to Júlio Cardona (1879-1950), born in Covilhã, one of the most outstanding Portuguese violinists of the 20th century and holder of a prestigious career as a soloist and pedagogue.
The competition takes place in Covilhã and is open to musicians of all nationalities, aged no less than 18 (on June 25th, 2025) and no more than 30 (on June 28th, 2025). All performances are open to the public.
The competition consists of the following categories:
- Violin
- Flute
- Piano
Each category consists of three mandatory rounds:
- Pre-selection, video submission (March 1st to 31st, 2025);
- Main round, maximum of 8 participants, in Covilhã (25th to 27th June 2025);
- Final, maximum of 3 participants, in Covilhã (June 28th, 2025).
