International Conducting Course and Competition 2025
Welcome to the third edition of the Vratsa International Conducting Course, an event by MROCI, Miguel Romea Conducting Institute, that has attracted talented conductors from around the world. After the tremendous success of the previous editions, this summer brings an exciting new addition: the first edition of the International Conducting Competition, where active participants will compete for prizes in an atmosphere of artistic excellence.
This course offers three categories; active, semi-active and observer; and a unique opportunity to deepen your conducting skills with intensive hands-on sessions for all participants, personalized guidance from top-level musicians and Maestro Romea, and the chance to conduct a full professional orchestra. The competition provides participants with the platform to showcase their talent in front of a jury made up of the orchestra’s own musicians.
Highlights of the Program:
Day 1: Practical session with a string quintet, two oboes and two horns. Conducting open exclusively to semi-active category. 20-25min of podium time is guaranteed for each participant. Conducting class with Maestro Romea for all participants.
Days 2-3-4: Exclusive practical course with the Vratsa Symphony Orchestra for active participants. 20-25 minutes of podium time per day is guaranteed for each conductor. Conducting class with Maestro Romea for all participants.
Day 5: Competition day: Dress rehearsal for all the active participants and final concert, featuring a professional recording of the event that will be sent to each active participant. Award ceremony.
2025 Repertoire:
Get ready to study and conduct monumental works such as Haydn´s 44th Symphony, Strauss´s Die Fledermaus, Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s magnificent Scheherazade.

The course and competition will take place in the charming city of Vratsa, Bulgaria. The organizers will offer accommodation at the Helmus Hotel, with special rates available for those who book through us.

Day 2-3-4
Morning: Exclusive practical course with the full Vratsa Symphony Orchestra for active participants. 20-25 minutes of podium time per day is guaranteed for each conductor.
Evening: Classes with Maestro Romea and Q&A sessions.
Day 5
Competition day!
Morning: Dress rehearsal for all active candidates.
Evening: Final concert, featuring a professional recording of the event that will be sent to each active participant.
Award ceremony.
