One-of-a-kind, ≈120 y/o French master cello with Jean-Jacques RAMPAL Certificate of Authenticity

Prix: on request
Rare, sonorous cello made by Mirecourt-based Paul Alexandre MANGENOT (1862–1942) ca. 1900, featuring intricate ornamental double-purfling on the back & a carved «dragon head».
One of only few known authentic French cellos in good condition that combine French violin making craftsmanship with decorative styling traditions introduced with viola da gambas.
Made of premium maple & evenly grown alpine spruce, stored for decades before processing.

Thanks to its wide waist & lower bout and high arching, this cello offers sonority, volume & depth – boasting formidable carrying capacity in all scales –, responding easily with smooth, even clarity across all strings, thus satisfying a discerning cellist (or collector) looking for a tactful, eye-catching work of art.

Measurements (mm; l=length):
■ body l: 761
■ bouts width: 343, 250, 448
■ string l: 692
■ ƒ-stop l: 402
■ neck l: 279

Ready to play.
NEW: personal delivery for viewing/testing up to 500 km from Zurich (e.g., Paris).
Certification: Authenticity Certificate, issued on 9/20/2021 by Jean-Jacques RAMPAL, the Paris-based, globally recognised leading authentication expert on old French string instruments & successor of Étienne Vatelot
