This oboe is owned by famous oboist and composer Edwin Roxburgh. He has had a distinguished career playing this oboe in the Yehudi Menuhin Orchestra worldwide as well as other renowned venues and orchestras and is used in a CD of Roxburgh's music. Sadly he is selling due to retirement.

More popularly, It is featured with Roxburgh playing the oboe solo in the chart song Bright Eyes, Watership Down.

The oboe has the rare adaptation of a combined Conservatoire/thumb-plate system.

It is featured in a photograph (plate 3) in a book on the oboe in the Yehudi Menuhin Music Guides, which Roxburgh co-authored with Leon Goossens. The book, signed by Roxburgh accompanies the instrument in the sale.

This is an incredibly rare instrument with a superb provenance.

It is well maintained and has an unmistakable sound. It is ready to play.
