Viola:

Viola d amore by Jacob Weiss , Salzburg 1736.

Precio: 14.000
VIola d' amore (with an Italian head) made by Jacob Weiss in Salzburg in the year 1736. He was pupil of Schorn, the violin maker that was the creator of the viola d'amore with 6+6 strings at the beginning of XVIII century. Weiss also married Schorn's daughter and after the Schorn's death the workshop passed to him: with this instrument we are at the origin of the history of the viola d'amore with sympathetic strings.
A similar instrument made by Weiss is stored at the Ferdinandeum Museum, Innsbruck and another one is stored at J. S. Bach house in Eisenach. Mozart also was playing a violin by Schorn and surely passed on the "Bottega" of Weiss… .

The instrument has been recentely restaured with a new bas bar on the back and a new finger board.
The total body lenght Is cm 40 (including the neck "button").
The label is original and was untouched before restoration.
The rose is in parchemin.
I can certify it as expert for the court of Venice
