Double Bass:

American Standard 1936

Precio: 7500€
Inevitably, the time has come to sell my beloved H.N. White American Standard, owned since 2007.

Made in 1936, it has "hump" shoulders: a feature that lasted until 1938. Mine is #40, amongst the first. There are very few documented basses before #40 nowadays. The company built its last bass in 1965.

Stamped "American Standard, Cleveland, Ohio" outside on the upper part of the back & twice inside, on each side of the label, the mensur is 109 cm, & the slim & agile neck has a characteristic profile easy on the left hand.

Solid, healthy, in great condition after 88 years of use, all parts are original: varnish, tailpiece, etc, except bridge. The previous owner had the overstand slightly raised with a fingerboard shim; a + on these basses. The neck was very well repaired in the USA, before the previous owner.

Fitted with E & A spun gut, D & G raw gut. Raw gut A included. Choice woods, & a punchy, deep, fat, projecting sound, better than Kays, King Mortones. A piece of history.
