Tutti Cello

To act as tutti cello in the BBC Concert Orchestra, stepping up as required.

1st Round
We ask that you submit a video for the 1st round, with the following:
• Beethoven – Symphony No. 5, II Bars 1-10, 98-106, 114-123
• Brahms - Symphony No.2, II Beginning to Bar 15
• Strauss – Don Juan, Letter R to Letter T
• Mendelssohn – Scherzo, Letter R to Letter O
• Tchaikovsky - Symphony No.4, II 21 bars before letter A to 16 bars after letter A
• Walton – Fugue (from Spitfire Prelude & Fugue) Beginning to Fig.1 & Fig.3 until 3 bars after Fig. 4

The music is supplied with the sections marked. Tips/Guidance on how to record the video are available for download on our Musical Chairs advert. We would like to advise candidates that a basic smart phone recording is sufficient to determine whether the panel would like to invite you to audition in person. The panel will only hear the audio to keep the process anonymous.
For those who are successful in the online submission stage we are looking to hold the next round of screened, in-person auditions (with accompanist), at the BBC Maida Vale Studios, London in the middle of May 2025.
