Tenor 2 to the Chorus of the Royal Swedish Opera

The Chorus of the Royal Swedish Opera is Sweden’s largest professional chorus and one of the oldest in the world, founded in 1773. The chorus consists of 54 full-time choristers who take part in the vast majority of all opera productions, which are performed throughout the season.

The position
Tenor 2 full-time, permanent employment with probationary year commencing the 1st of July 2025 or by agreement.

Your profile
Details of education in music or postgraduate studies in opera are requested, and further details of experience as a member of an opera chorus are desirable.

You should have a good proficiency in either English or Swedish. If you cannot currently speak Swedish you are expected to learn.

Audition
Auditions will take place on Sunday the 30th of March 2025, by invitation and upon review of applications.

Please prepare the following for audition:

Your choice of one of the following prescribed arias:

Dies Bildnis (Die Zauberflöte)
De’ miei bollenti spiriti (La Traviata)

An aria of your own choice in a contrasting language to that of your prescribed aria.

The audition will also involve tests in sight-reading, stagecraft, an ensemble test and an interview.
