Assistant Concertmaster, 5th Chair First Violin, & Section First Violin

The Preliminary round of auditions is scheduled for November 2-4, 2024. The Semi-Final round is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 5. The Final round is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 2.

Taped excerpts may be requested at the discretion of the Audition Committee and will be due
Monday, October 14, 2024. Directions for submitting recordings will be communicated with the request for recording.

There are three (3) positions available: Assistant Concertmaster (4th chair first violin), First Violin (5th chair), and Section First Violin. Candidates do not need to let us know if they wish to be considered for only one of the positions until the final round. Note additional tenure-track or one-year positions may be offered as the result of this audition.

Positions begin January 27, 2025, or by the mutual agreement of the PSO and winning candidate, but no later than September 1, 2025. Minimum rates for the 2024-2025 season are to be determined; for the 2023-2024 season minimum orchestra weekly scale is $2,082.92, and the annual Electronic Media Guarantee is $2,072.40. The PSO schedule has ten (10) collective vacation weeks for members each season, paid at the same rate as work weeks. Titled positions may negotiate for additional weekly overscale (pay) related to their duties.
