The Royal Irish Academy of Music is Ireland’s oldest conservatoire, ranked in the top 50 institutions in the world for the performing arts. We train gifted musicians from all over the world for careers in music performance, composition and pedagogy. Our graduates are innovative and reflective, with skills that enable them to take on the challenge of a life in the creative arts with confidence and zest.
Our teaching staff includes many international prize-winners and principals of professional orchestras in Ireland. These experienced teachers are passionate about working with talented students to unlock their artistic potential. Students receive 2 hours of individual tuition every week, more than anywhere else in Europe. This is alongside weekly performance classes, repertoire sessions, audition training and screened auditions which will prepare our students with the skills needed to successfully thrive in the profession. Our outstanding teaching faculty are drawn from members of the National Symphony of Ireland, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra and Crash Ensemble. In addition to this, students also have access to multiple chamber music coaches, performance class tutors, leading visiting artists in masterclasses and workshops, accompanists, and sectional tutors.
Our wide range of performing groups are celebrated for the vitality and passion of their performances. These groups are regularly invited to perform at significant venues both in Ireland and overseas. RIAM Alumni currently hold prestigious positions in ensembles and artistic organisations all around the world.
Regular visitors include international artists recently such as:
Guitarist Xuefei Yang, Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Violinist Daniel Rowland.
RIAM is an associate college of Trinity College, the University of Dublin, Ireland’s highest-ranking university. We are located in the Georgian Quarter of Dublin City, minutes from cultural institutions such as the National Gallery of Ireland, the Abbey Theatre and the Bord Gais Energy Theatre.
