Modern "Baroque" Cello, Rudolph Fiedler (Czech), 2002
Preis: £4200 o.n.o. (UK)
This is a very nice cello in excellent condition. Unusually, it can be converted easily from its baroque playing style to a modern cello with end pin. It has a warm, mellow sound and plays easily. The cello is professionally set up (documentation available) with quality gut strings, and as an added bonus has been fitted with Knilling geared tuning pegs instead of modern "fine tuners" which can't be used with gut strings. The cello is built to modern Strad dimensions, so it's easy to swap between this and a modern cello, but the fingerboard and tailpiece are maple, giving the cello a distinctive "baroque" appearance. The purfling around the fingerboard is slightly scuffed at one point, from having the set-up adjusted - see photo. Offer includes choice of as-new Hiscox Liteflight Ivory case, or soft case. My price is below its valuation, for a quick sale. Face-to-face cash sale only. Could meet in public place within 60 miles of Lancaster UK.
Certification: Insurance authentication and valuation can be provided before purchase.
