English Touring Opera

Open Call to Audition (Harp)

Would you like to play for the UK's leading touring opera company?

We are looking to audition orchestral musicians to join our pool of freelance players who comprise the Orchestra of English Touring Opera.

If selected, players would be added to our current list of freelance performers, which ETO may call upon to play in future seasons.

Please note that being selected for the pool does not guarantee any offer of work.

Interested applicants should send their CV with a video (with audio) of you playing the following:

Harp: Concerto for Harp in Bb major (HWV294) Handel

All applications, including videos, will be anonymised before shortlisting for an in-person audition.

If selected for an in-person audition, players will be sent some orchestral excerpts to prepare and asked to perform a short piece/excerpt (no longer than 5 mins in duration) of their own choice, with or without accompaniment.

ETO will provide an accompanist for the in-person auditions but candidates should be aware that they will have limited time together prior to the audition.

Auditions will be held on: 23 - 24 January 2025 (London); 29 - 30 January (Sheffield)

Players that are already known by English Touring Opera do not need to apply as they will automatically be included in the pool of freelance players.

ETO is an Equal Opportunities Employer which we believe extends to our engagement of freelance practitioners. We actively encourage applications from disabled people, working class people and people from global majority backgrounds, as these groups are currently under-represented in the cultural sector.
