Verbier Festival Orchestra 2025 - Bass Trombone

The Bass Trombone section of the VFO does not currently have an opening for 2025:

Applicants may still apply for positions in sections without openings and, if the selection panel deems that the application is of a high enough standard to be accepted, the candidate will be placed on the reserve list and may be invited if one of the current VFO members cancels.

Apply now for the 2025 Verbier Festival Orchestra! The VFO sets the gold standard for the training of orchestral players and for over 20 years it has been a career launchpad for many of today’s best musicians.

The VFO 2025 will be conducted by Klaus Mäkelä, Paavo Järvi, Teodor Currentzis, Barbara Hannigan, Manfred Honeck, Fabio Luisi, following two weeks of training led by principal musicians from the world’s top orchestras. Repertoire highlights include Malher's 1st Symphony, Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana, Shostakovitch 5th Symphony, Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, Stravinski's Fire Bird.

Applicants to the Verbier Festival Orchestra programme can either apply for a live audition or submit an application by video.

Applications open: 10 October 2024
Live audition application deadline: 12 December 2024
Video audition application deadline: 16 January 2025
Application Fee: USD 70

The Verbier Festival will cover the cost of return travel (i.e., both the arrival and return journeys) from each musician’s place of residence to Verbier, capped at a certain amount - please check the application guidelines for more information regarding this.

The Verbier Festival also covers all training/tuition costs, provides lodging, and lunches and dinners.
