Blue Danube Opera Conducting Masterclass 2024 (II) – 9-17 September 2024 with State Opera Stara Zagora/Bulgaria and Maestro Ivaylo Krinchev.
Operas to be rehearsed and performed over 9 days are L’elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti (performed on 12.09); Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana (performed on 17.09); and Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci (also performed on 17.09) – all fully-staged and costumed and sung in Italian before the public in the opera's beautiful theater seating c. 600. 2 slots are available for active-participants to conduct 35-40 minutes of L'elsir or Pagliacci. Conductors may use their podium time entirely on their performance assignment, or some for one or both of the other operas in numerous rehearsals – orchestra only; choir only, cast with piano, stage rehearsal with piano, Sitzproben (all soloists and choir seated on stage with conductor and orchestra in the pit), etc. Ideal even for conductors who have not yet had much experience with singers and opera.
